The Master of Science (MS) in Pharmaceutical Sciences (PSC) at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy provides advanced education and cutting-edge training to prepare students for high-level research and leadership positions in pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, and in the federal government.
The 16-month, full-time program based at the Universities at Shady Grove in Rockville, Md., integrates basic and applied pharmaceutical sciences with hands-on laboratory research experience.
Completion of a biopharmaceutical research internship and capstone project are hallmarks of the program. Students will work with an assigned faculty advisor to help tailor these experiences to meet their unique career goals. A thesis is not required for this program.
Academic Requirements:
Our program favors applicants with a degree in the areas of biology, biochemistry, chemistry, engineering, molecular biology, pharmacy, and pharmaceutical sciences. The minimum academic standard for full admission is a B average, or 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. (Other degrees will also be considered with the following coursework recommended with a grade of B or better: General Chemistry, General Biology, Calculus, Organic Chemistry, and Biochemistry.)
GRE:
The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is not required.
Official TOEFL or IELTS scores:
The minimum acceptable TOEFL score for admission is 550 for paper-based tests, 213 for computer-based tests, 80 for the internet-based tests. IELTS test takers must score no less than Band 7 (total).
